During the event, the senator met with the leadership of the World Islamic Economic Forum.
Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Deputy Chairman of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group Farit Mukhametshin attended a round table discussion at the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF). The event was held in the Malaysian State of Penang and was entitled “Economic Rebound: Transforming the Future.”
The round table discussion focused on global economic recovery, food and environmental security, the digital revolution, and issues related to the Islamic economy and finance.
Farit Mukhametshin had a meeting with the WIEF leadership as part of the event. The discussion touched on establishing interaction between WIEF and International Economic Summit “Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Summit,” consultations on Islamic banking laws, the Halal industry, as well as joint activities with the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Malaysia Nail Latypov, Aid to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Gazinur Bakirov, and acting head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Insaf Galiev.
