Konstantin Kosachev meets with the heads of the diplomatic missions of the Arab states accredited in the Russian Federation

The Federation Council Deputy Speaker suggested making this a regular dialogue.


Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev met with the heads of the diplomatic missions of the Arab states that are accredited in the Russian Federation. They met at the Federation Council.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security Yuri Valyaev, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Farit Mukhametshin, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Agriculture and Food Policy and Environmental Management Belan Khamchiev, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Mohmad Akhmadov and the ambassadors of Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, the UAE, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Tunisia.

The participants spoke at length about the further promotion of relations between the Arab countries and the Russian Federation. They discussed the situation in the grain and oil markets and the situation with energy sources in Europe. A separate discussion was held on the Ukraine crisis and possible ways of settling it.

The heads of the diplomatic missions thanked the Russian Federation for its balanced position on resolving issues that affect the interests of Arab states and nations in various international and interparliamentary organisations.

“Considering the growing role of the Arab states in the world, we suggest making this dialogue a regular format,” Konstantin Kosachev said.
