Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Russian Federation Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares.

Konstantin Kosachev drew attention to the fact that the recent visit of the Federation Council Speaker to Brazil to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Brazil was meaningful. “Russian-Brazilian relations have a great future,” the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council stressed.

We look forward to intensifying interaction between the Federation Council committees with relevant committees of the Brazilian Senate, as well as establishing contacts through the friendship groups when such a group is formed in the Federal Senate of the National Congress of Brazil. We consider the issue of the BRICS parliamentary dimension to be topical. We expect the Brazilian side to express its position on this matter,” said the Federation Council Deputy Speaker.

According to Rodrigo de Lima Baeno Soares, with the inauguration of the President of Brazil, a new page in relations between the two countries has opened. “We consider Russia an important partner with which we are ready to strengthen cooperation. The visit of the Federation Council Speaker contributed to the further strengthening of bilateral relations,” the Ambassador said.
