Konstantin Kosachev speaks at a meeting of the heads of Eurasian diplomatic missions

The meeting was dedicated to humanitarian cooperation in the Eurasian space.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev attended a meeting of the heads of several Eurasian countries’ diplomatic missions organised by the Russian parliament’s Eurasian Dialogue. The meeting was dedicated to humanitarian cooperation in the Eurasian space.

The meeting was also attended by Andrey Klimov, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, coordinator of Eurasian Dialogue; Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov; Deputy Minister of Culture Nadezhda Prepodobnaya; and Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov, as well as heads and representatives from various Eurasian states’ diplomatic missions.

The Federation Council deputy speaker stated that the goals of the Eurasian project did not include opposition to anyone.

“The phenomenon of Eurasianism means its participants agree that they are different in terms of culture, ideology, religion, and traditions. This is our advantage and our wealth. The value of the Eurasian model is that it gives space and the opportunity for development to all without exception. That is why institutions based on the same principles as the SCO and BRICS are becoming more attractive to many countries of the world,” Konstantin Kosachev emphasised.

He expressed confidence that Eurasian integration should not only be based on the economic component but on a humanitarian foundation including science, education, and culture. He believes special focus must be made on youth cooperation. One of the best examples of this was the Memory Train cultural and educational project, initiated by the Federation Council together with the upper house of the Belarusian National Assembly, where EAEU schoolchildren will take part this year.

Konstantin Kosachev used the traditional Festival Marathon as another example of humanitarian cooperation in the Eurasian space, which is also supported by the Federation Council: “This year it will be held in the SCO+ format.”
