Mohmad Akhmadov meets with Sultanate of Oman Ambassador to the Russian Federation

During their conversation, the sides discussed the results of a visit to Muscat by members of the Federation Council’s Group for Cooperation with the State Council of Oman.


Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Mohmad Akhmadov, Head of the Group for Cooperation between the Federation Council and the State Council of the Sultanate of Oman, had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Oman to the Russian Federation Hamood bin Salim bin Abdullah Al Towaiya.

The senator discussed the results of a visit to Muscat this past October by members of the Federation Council’s Group for Cooperation with the State Council of Oman. Mohmad Akhmadov headed the delegation.

The senator noted that, during their visit, the members of the delegation met with the Chairman of the State Council of Oman Sheikh Abdulmalik Al Khalili, Minister for Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Oman Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of Oman Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed al Maawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Heritage of the Sultanate of Oman Ibrahim Said Al Kharusi and Governor of the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Sheikh Hilal bin Said bin Hamdan al Hajri. Members of friendship groups of the upper houses of the Russian and Omani parliaments also held a joint meeting.

“I consider our trip to Oman to be highly productive and useful. We have accomplished all our objectives,” Mohmad Akhmadov said.

During the senator’s conversation with the Ambassador of Oman, the sides discussed preparations for an official visit by Sheikh Abdulmalik Al Khalili to the Russian Federation. There are plans to sign an intergovernmental agreement or a draft programme for Russia-Oman cultural cooperation during his visit, the MP said.

The partners discussed the development of bilateral ties in the field of higher education, contacts between Russian and Omani universities, and training of Omani students at Russian universities.

They also touched upon the situation in the Middle East, linked with the exacerbation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. They noted the need to prevent bloodshed.

Hamood bin Salim bin Abdullah Al Towaiya praised the results of the visit to Oman by the delegation of the Federation Council’s Cooperation Group. He emphasised the importance of continuing the mutually beneficial development of bilateral relations in various spheres.
