Grigory Karasin meets with Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Russia Ahmed Salem Al-Wahishi

The parties discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including further development of inter-parliamentary relations.


Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to the Russian Federation Ahmed Salem Al-Wahishi.

In the course of the conversation, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including education, healthcare and the economy.

Grigory Karasin emphasised the openness and friendliness characterising the relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Yemen. The senator recalled that last year marked the 95th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two states. “Our countries have travelled this path honourably. We continue to move forward, preserving the traditions of friendship and mutual understanding,” the chair of the Federation Council Committee said. “Our interaction has yielded good results and holds broad prospects for the future.”

Ahmed Salem Al-Wahishi acknowledged the long-standing history of Russian-Yemeni cooperation. “We are pleased that our relations are developing in a variety of sectors.” The ambassador expressed hope for further strengthening of ties, including through parliamentary channels.

Additionally, they addressed issues concerning the resolution of the Yemeni crisis and efforts to end the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip.
