Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev met with Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Alborov, who heads a delegation of South Ossetian observers at the Russian presidential election.

Attendees included Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin, members of the Commission on Cooperation between the Federation Council and the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia, and Russian senators Krym Kazanokov and Vitaly Nazarenko.

“Centuries-old bonds of friendship underlie the relations between Russia and South Ossetia,” Konstantin Kosachev said.

In his opinion, interparliamentary interaction is quite intense. During their conversation, the officials discussed matters related to the Agreement on Resolving Dual Citizenship Issues and efforts to update multiple bylaws in this sphere.

They also touched upon Russian MPs’ assistance to their South Ossetian colleagues in establishing and expanding international contacts.

Members of the South Ossetian parliamentary delegation shared their impressions of the voting process in Russia and invited the senators to monitor elections to the Parliament of South Ossetia in the summer of 2024.
