… The Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs held a roundtable discussion titled ‘Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China as a key factor of global stability.’ Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin moderated the event. Attendees included Deputy Federation Council Speaker Konstantin Kosachev, senators of the Russian Federation and representatives of the academic and expert community. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko delivered a report. In his remarks, Konstantin Kosachev noted that cooperation between Russia and China is a geopolitical factor that is helping shape the global order. “Russia and China objectively share common interests in the field of security. We are equally committed to preventing any attempts by known geopolitical blocs – whether NATO or the European Union – to impose their will on us. Neither of us wants to see interference in our domestic affairs,” the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council stated.
“Russia and China have learned to build relations on a foundation of mutual respect, accepting each other as we are, without interference, without imposing our will or interests on one another. This is the cornerstone of our comprehensive strategic partnership,” Konstantin Kosachev concluded.
Grigory Karasin noted that in a time of global transformation and rising geopolitical tension, Russia and China are shaping a new model of cooperation focused on sustainable development and coordinated responses to external challenges. “This model goes beyond deepening economic and technological ties. It includes forming a shared international agenda, developing alternative financial mechanisms and coordinating efforts to build a fair global governance system,” he said.
“We place particular importance on our work with our Chinese partners to establish a new Eurasian security architecture based on the principles of equality and indivisibility,” the Senator added. “Interparliamentary ties are becoming a key pillar of bilateral strategic cooperation between Russia and China. In today’s geopolitical environment, the parliaments of both countries play a vital role in adapting legislation to new realities. The Interparliamentary Commission for Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of Russia and the National People’s Congress of China is a key and effective tool for parliamentary oversight and the implementation of interstate agreements. Sharing legislative best practices benefits the development of both national legal systems,” Grigory Karasin said. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko recalled that the latest version of Russia’s Foreign Policy Concept highlights the importance of deepening relations with friendly, sovereign global centres of power and development located on the Eurasian continent, countries that share Russia’s vision for the future world order. “In this context, China is our principal like-minded partner. Thanks to its impressive growth across many sectors, China is playing an increasingly prominent role in regional and global affairs,” he said.
According to Andrei Rudenko, Russia remains firmly committed to its strategic partnership with China, especially in promoting political coordination aimed at ensuring security and stability across Eurasia.
