The meeting participants agreed to step up cooperation between the League of Arab States and the Russian Committee of Solidarity and Cooperation with the Peoples of Asia and Africa.
Iliyas Umakhanov, First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education, and Culture, Coordinator of the Federation Council Group for Cooperation with Arab Parliaments, and President of the Russian Committee of Solidarity and Cooperation with the Peoples of Asia and Africa (RCSCAA), met with Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation, and Walid Hamid Shiltagh, Head of the Arab League Representative Office in Russia.
The parties discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, including a plan of events for 2025–2026 to be held under the auspices of the League of Arab States, with the participation of government officials and business leaders. They also put forward several proposals for the forthcoming League of Arab States summit, which will take place this October.
Iliyas Umakhanov noted that the Russian Federation has historically enjoyed special relations of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with Arab countries, and values these traditions, forged during the Soviet era.
