“Inter-regional ties make a special contribution to the development of the entire range of bilateral relations. Today, most constituent entities of the Russian Federation maintain cooperation with Uzbekistan. Over the past two and a half years, delegation exchanges between the regions of our two countries have significantly intensified. We attach particular importance to further promoting the Russian-Uzbekistani alliance and strategic partnership,” Iliyas Umakhanov said.
The tenth meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan focused on inter-regional cooperation, using Tatarstan and Bukhara as examples, as well as parliamentary support for agricultural supplies from Uzbekistan to the Russian market, the development of tourism and pilgrimage, and the preservation of historical memory.
“The parliamentarians’ task is to fully facilitate the implementation of the decisions and agreements reached by the presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan. Interparliamentary partnership plays a special role in this process, helping to develop common approaches to the pressing issues facing our countries and to build effective dialogue based on mutual consideration of interests,” Iliyas Umakhanov stressed.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed.
It was agreed that the next meeting of the Commission will take place in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2026.
