The Federation Council Speaker is heading a Russian parliamentary delegation to the Republic of Tajikistan.
Russian-manufactured passenger cars were handed over to officials of Russian-Tajik schools at the Yury Gagarin Specialised Secondary School in Dushanbe.
Attending the event were Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko and Milli Majlisi Oli (National Assembly) Speaker Rustam Emomali.
Valentina Matvienko noted that Russian-made passenger cars had won a good reputation in Central Asia. According to Matvienko, the cars that are being handed over will become an important element of support and a valuable gift for Russian-Tajik schools involved in the Russian Teacher Abroad project, initiated by the presidents of Russia and Tajikistan.
“The leaders of both countries devote great attention to the education sphere because this is tantamount to investing in the future,” the Federation Council Speaker noted.
Valentina Matvienko thanked the leadership of Tajikistan for prioritising the development of the Russian language education programme which opens up major opportunities for young people and for more profound bilateral cooperation.
Tajikistan became the first country to launch the Russian Teacher Abroad project, and 109 Russian teachers currently work in the country, the Federation Council Speaker added.
Valentina Matvienko spoke with educators and thanked Russian language teachers. You are building a real friendship bridge between Russia and Tajikistan, the Federation Council Speaker noted.
AVTOVAZ cars were handed over during the ceremony.
Attending the event were Deputy Federation Council Speaker – Co-chair of the Commission for Cooperation between the Federation Council and Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Nikolai Zhuravlev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Tajikistan Semyon Grigoryev, AVTOVAZ CEO Maxim Sokolov, Chair of the Organising Committee of the International Expedition Journey to the Heart of Eurasia – Chair of the Russian-Tajik Business Council Islam Nazaraliyev, managers, educators and students of the Yury Gagarin School in Dushanbe.
