Galina Karelova: Women create new BRICS cooperation formats

A new course of the Woman Leader programme for participants from BRICS countries has begun, bringing together 85 representatives from 13 states.

A new intake of the Woman Leader programme for representatives of BRICS countries has opened in Moscow, with 85 women taking part from 13 countries: the seven BRICS nations (Russia, South Africa, India, China, Brazil, Indonesia and Egypt), and six partner states (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan). The launch was announced by Senator Galina Karelova, who also chairs the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum.

She noted that the selection process was highly competitive: more than 700 applicants competed for the 85 places. “This is the fourth international course of the Woman Leader programme, and the first designed specifically for women from the BRICS women’s community. This new cooperation format makes it possible to combine existing experience and fresh expertise, and to create joint projects that will be in demand across the BRICS space,” the Senator said.

The programme was developed on the initiative of the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum under the Federation Council, in partnership with the team of the Senezh School of Management, which is part of the Russia – Land of Opportunity presidential platform. Its key aims include strengthening international cooperation, training professionals to work with BRICS+ partner countries, developing initiatives to support multipolarity and cultural dialogue, and creating mechanisms for integrating traditional values into social practices across the BRICS+.

Training will take place both in person and online. Participants – predominantly women in managerial roles such as senior corporate executives, entrepreneurs and representatives of international initiatives – will be introduced to best practices in leadership development, building effective teams and communities, and project management. They will also gain new competencies in diplomacy and international cooperation, international finance, the creative industries, social sciences and more. Upon completion, each graduate will present a project proposal aimed at solving a specific task and capable of practical implementation.

The first in-person module includes panel discussions, lectures, master classes, training sessions and business simulations. Speakers will include Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Department Maria Zakharova, Director of the BRICS Business Incubator – Adviser to the Director of the China – SCO Technology Transfer Centre Tatiana Seliverstova, Curator of the Academic Student Association at the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy Natalia Strigunova, President of the Russian Association of Business Psychologists – Lomonosov Moscow State University Professor Takhir Bazarov and others.

“We are opening a new chapter in women’s cooperation within BRICS. You will not only acquire new knowledge and skills – you will also get to know one another better, gain new friends who will introduce you to the world of their countries, their experience and culture. I am confident that your training and joint work will culminate in projects that will help make our world a kinder place,” Galina Karelova stressed.
