The Federation Council Speaker is in Minsk to participate in events of the 13th Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus.
Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko had a meeting with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
The Federation Council Speaker is leading a Federation Council delegation to the 13th Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus.
“This regional forum brings billions of roubles in contracts both to you, Russians, and us, Belarusians. We see each other and get to know our capabilities. This is a great thing,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
He expressed satisfaction with the fact that legislators had taken regional cooperation under their supervision.
Valentina Matvienko noted that the presidents of Russia and Belarus were active in supporting interaction between regions.
“Over these years, inter-regional cooperation has become the framework of the Union State. The wider these ties expand, the stronger they are, the more reliable our Union is,” she said.
Valentina Matvienko also expressed her sympathy and support in connection with the terrorist attack on Belarusian children in Bryansk.
